The Brandon Senior Center will host a Rummikub competition at 10 AM on Thursday, Nov. 5. The center is at 612 N. Parsons Ave.
The event is part of the Annual Tournament of Champions. Hillsborough County Aging Services hosts the tournament. It has four competitions in four weeks.
The tournament is for current members of the Hillsborough County Senior Centers and Dining & Activity Centers. The county says hundreds of seniors will compete.
The other competitions take place at other county centers:
- Dominoes: 10 AM Friday, Oct. 30, Town 'N Country Senior Center
- Billiards: 10 AM Tuesday, Nov. 10, Oaks Senior Center
- Chess: 10 AM Wednesday, Nov. 18, Lutz Senior Center
The county says each tournament gives participants mental stimulation, competition and a chance to bond with peers. Winners get the chance to be crowned champion.
Aging Services has seven Senior Centers and 14 Dining & Activity Centers in the county. Activities are for adults ages 50 and over. Adults who are 60 and over may qualify for a noon-time meal.
