Terms of use

Last updated: October 24, 2026

These terms apply when you use Brandon Dispatch: the website brandondispatch.com, our newsletter, our RSS feed and our posts on social media. LateShift LLC, a Florida limited liability company, publishes Brandon Dispatch. “We”, “us” and “our” means LateShift LLC. “You” means the person who uses the site.

When you use the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the site.

Our privacy policy tells you what data we collect. If you buy an ad, the sponsor terms also apply.

1. Our news is not an emergency service

  • We report from public records and official sources. Records can be late, incomplete or wrong. We can make mistakes too.
  • Sheriff calls, traffic alerts, road closures, weather alerts and boil-water notices on our site can be late or out of date. Do not use our site to make safety decisions. Check the official source. In an emergency, call 911.
  • A call to the Sheriff's Office is the first report of a possible event. It is not a confirmed crime, crash or arrest.
  • An arrest or a criminal charge is an accusation. Each person is innocent unless a court finds them guilty.
  • Our news is not legal, medical, financial or other professional advice.

2. Software and AI

We use software, including AI, to find public records and to write drafts of stories. Read how we use AI and where a person checks the work.

3. Our content and how you can use it

LateShift LLC owns the stories, graphics, videos and design that we make for Brandon Dispatch. Copyright law protects them. Photos from Wikimedia Commons and other sources belong to their owners and have their own licenses. We give credit on the page. Facts and public records do not belong to us.

You can:

  • Read our stories and share links to them.
  • Quote a short part of a story, if you name Brandon Dispatch and link to the story.
  • Print or save a story for your own use.
  • Read our RSS feed in a feed reader.

You cannot, unless we give you permission in writing:

  • Copy or republish a full story, or a large part of a story.
  • Remove our name, a credit or a copyright notice.
  • Sell our content or use it in ads.
  • Use our content to train or feed an AI or machine-learning system, or to build a database or a competing service.

4. Bots and security

  • Do not copy our site with bots, scrapers or other automatic tools. Search engines that obey our robots.txt file are permitted.
  • Do not send so many requests that the site slows down, and do not try to get past our spam checks or limits.
  • Do not try to get into parts of the site that are not public, such as our admin pages.
  • Do not upload or send viruses or other harmful code.

5. Tips and messages you send us

This section applies to tips, messages, photos and documents that you send to us by our forms, by email or on our social media pages.

  • You promise that what you send is true as far as you know, that you have the right to send it, and that it does not break the law.
  • You keep your rights to what you send. You give us permission to use it to report the news: we can read it, check it, edit it, quote it and publish it in our stories, newsletter, videos and social media posts. This permission is free, it is not exclusive, and it applies everywhere.
  • We decide what we publish. We do not have to publish what you send, and we do not pay for tips.
  • If you want us to keep your name private, tell us in your message. We do not publish the name of a person who sends a tip without their permission. If a court orders us to give information, we may have to obey the order.
  • Do not send false reports, threats, harassment, or private data about other people, such as Social Security numbers or health records. Do not send content that belongs to someone else.

6. Ads and links to other sites

  • Ads marked “Sponsored” come from local businesses. Other ads can come from ad networks such as Google. An ad does not mean that we recommend the product. The advertiser is responsible for the ad.
  • Our stories link to public records and other websites. We do not control those websites. Their own terms apply.

7. Copyright complaints

If you think that material on our site breaks your copyright, send a written notice to our copyright agent. This process follows the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (17 U.S.C. § 512). Your notice must include:

  • Your physical or electronic signature.
  • The work that you think we copied.
  • The material on our site and its web address (URL).
  • Your name, mailing address, phone number and email address.
  • A statement that you believe in good faith that the use is not permitted by the owner, its agent or the law.
  • A statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and that you own the copyright or can act for the owner.

Copyright agent: LateShift LLC, Attn: Copyright Agent, 110 Lithia Pinecrest Rd, Suite C PMB 1186, Brandon, FL 33511. Email: legal@brandondispatch.com.

If we remove material that you sent us and you think we made a mistake, you can send us a counter-notice. We stop accepting material from people who break copyright again and again.

8. Corrections and legal notices

If you think a story is wrong, email correction@brandondispatch.com. We review every request. Read our corrections policy.

Send legal notices, including a notice under section 770.01 of the Florida Statutes, by mail to LateShift LLC, 110 Lithia Pinecrest Rd, Suite C PMB 1186, Brandon, FL 33511, and by email to legal@brandondispatch.com.

9. No warranties

We give you the site “as is” and “as available”. As far as the law permits, we make no warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes warranties of accuracy, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. We do not promise that the site is always available, correct, complete, or free of errors or viruses.

10. Limit of our liability

As far as the law permits, LateShift LLC and its owners, members, employees and contractors are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost profits, data or goodwill, that come from your use of the site. Our total liability for all claims about the site is limited to $100. For a sponsor order, the limit is the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Some laws do not permit these limits. If such a law applies to you, the limits apply only as far as that law permits.

11. Your responsibility

If you break these terms or the law, and another person makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to pay our reasonable costs of that claim. This includes reasonable lawyer fees.

12. Ending your access

We can block your access to the site, our forms or our newsletter if you break these terms.

13. Florida law and courts

Florida law applies to these terms, without its rules on conflict of laws. A dispute about these terms or the site goes to the state courts in Hillsborough County, Florida, or to the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa Division. You and we agree to these courts. Either side can use small claims court if the claim qualifies.

14. Changes to these terms

We can change these terms. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. If you use the site after a change, you agree to the new terms. Changes do not apply to a dispute that started before the change.

15. Other terms

  • If a court finds that one part of these terms is not valid, the other parts stay in effect.
  • If we do not enforce a part of these terms, we can still enforce it later.
  • These terms, the privacy policy and, for ad buyers, the sponsor terms are the full agreement between you and us about the site.
