Hillsborough County announced on Oct. 9 that Valrico Oaks HOA earned an honorable mention in its 2026 Neighborhood Awards.

The HOA earned the mention for its "Green & Clean" project. The project used Neighborhood Mini-Grant funding for entrance and fence-line improvements. Neighbors picked up trash, cleared debris, trimmed trees, and removed dead plants and bushes. Volunteers also repaired damaged landscape lighting. The county said the work made the area cleaner and safer for walkers and drivers.

The county holds the awards each year to highlight neighborhood organizations that foster healthy, safe, and engaged neighborhoods.

Its fourth annual cleanup drew 114 volunteers. The county said all three winners are semifinalists for its 2026 Neighborhood of the Year Award.

Five other groups also earned honorable mentions. They include Caloosa Point II HOA, Carrollton Lakes HOA, and Hawks Point West HOA. Lumsden Reserves Townhomes and Oak Bridge Run Condominium also earned honorable mentions.
