Buckhorn Groves Homeowners Association, Inc. in Valrico received the Safe Neighborhood Award from Hillsborough County. Hillsborough County Neighborhood Relations announced the awards Tuesday night at the Carrollwood Cultural Center, 4537 Lowell Rd., Tampa.
With the help of 15 volunteers, the association added benches, a table and more seating around its play areas. The seating gives parents a comfortable place to supervise their children. The project also replaced deteriorated boards on the existing benches. This improved the gathering space for older kids. The project added a new garbage can at the play area entrance to encourage visitors to keep the park clean.
Carrollwood Village Homeowners Association (HOA), Inc. Phase I, II, and III won the 2026 Neighborhood of the Year award. It organized a neighborhood cleanup with 114 volunteers. It received a $500 check at the ceremony. It also received the Engaged Neighborhood Award.
