Health officials advise against swimming at Simmons Park Beach in Ruskin.

The Florida Department of Health in Hillsborough County issued the water quality advisory on Oct. 29. The beach is at 2401 19th Ave. NW.

Tests from Oct. 28 showed that the water does not meet state recreational water quality criteria for Enterococcus bacteria. The bacteria level exceeds the level in state guidelines. The tests were part of regular water quality monitoring.

The department advises against any water-related activities at the beach. It says swimmers have an increased risk of illness.

The advisory will continue until bacteria levels drop below the accepted health level. For beach test results, see the source link.
