The Florida Association of Science Teachers named two Hillsborough County Public Schools teachers among the state's top science teachers. The district announced the honors on Oct. 26.
A science district resource teacher received the 2026 Outstanding Elementary Teacher award. A Chamberlain High School teacher received the 2026 Outstanding High School Teacher award.
The two teachers are among five educators across Florida with 2026 F.A.S.T. Teacher Awards. The honorees come from Hillsborough, Duval, Collier and Broward counties.
The high school teacher brings engineering, mechatronics and systems design into his classroom. His students connect science and engineering concepts with real-world uses.
The elementary award winner spent much of her 19-year career teaching elementary math and science. Most recently, she taught at Kenly Elementary. There, more than 86% of her fifth-grade students achieved proficiency on the Statewide Science Assessment. She now supports elementary science teachers across the district. She develops curriculum and coaches educators.
Superintendent Van Ayres called the recognition "an incredible honor for our district."
Each winner will receive $700 from the Florida Association of Science Teachers. The Florida Science Education Leadership Association will add $100. The total award is $800.
