The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will shift all US 301 travel lanes to the west side of the road. The new pattern runs through the Big Bend Road (County Road 672) intersection in Riverview.

FDOT said the shift begins this week. Its release is dated Oct. 21.

The pattern gives two travel lanes on northbound US 301. It also gives two travel lanes on southbound US 301. The shift lets crews start the next phase of construction on the east side of the road.

The traffic pattern will continue through the summer of 2027.

To avoid congestion and delays, FDOT suggests alternate routes. These are Gibsonton Drive and Sun City Center Boulevard. FDOT asks drivers to slow down and stay alert in the work zone.

FDOT is widening Big Bend Road (CR 672) to a six-lane divided road. The work covers the section between Simmons Loop and US 301. Crews will also replace the asphalt at the US 301 and Big Bend Road intersection with concrete.
